Overcast conditions at the reactor site on 10 and 11 May preclude confirmation of these claims The president of TASS reported in Soviet media that information about the nature and extent of the accident originally reported to Moscow by the Chernobyl' plant's leadership was both insufficient and incorrect. This is probably a further attempt to fix blame on low- 'level officials for Moscow's failure to provide affected countries with relevant Information about the accident. In addition, Western media claim Moscow doctors expect many of their 150 radiation patients to die.I EC Ban Still Undecided The European Community still has not been able to agree on a ban on imports of food from Eastern Europe despite the official announcement on Saturday. Italy announced yesterday it refuses to ratify the agreement, claiming Its earlier statements on the proposal had been misinterpreted. On Saturday, West German spokesmen noted that the radiation levels in the proposal were too high by Bonn's standards. EC representatives will meet again today to work out differences. 12 May 1986 Approved for Release: 2025/03/17 C06795969
