EL SALVADOR: SALVADOR: Insurgent Attacks Continue
The guerrillas, by destroying a key road bridge last
Sunday, have reduced access to the northwest corner of
the country. They also continue to harass military units
and to sabotage the electrical power and communications
systems. In addition, the insurgents' propaganda radio
station has resumed broadcasting after being forced off
the air for nearly three weeks when their equipment was
captured by government forces. Supply shortages are pre-
venting the insurgents from mounting larger scale opera-
tions, however, and the government has been able to re-
store electricity to the eastern third of the country,
where it had been cut off.
