Mr. Timothy S. Cooper
Reference: F-2018-01132
Dear Mr. Cooper:
On 13 March 2018, the office of the Information and Privacy Coordinator received your
2 March 2018 Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request for access to the Agency's DCI
General Walter B. Smith's Weekly Friday Black Book Briefing for 19 December 1952 to
President Truman on the subject of "flying saucers" and any related document to this
briefing.
Our officers will review your request in more detail and will advise you should they encounter
any problems or if they cannot begin the search without additional information or clarification.
We have assigned your request the reference number above. Please use this number when
corresponding so that we can identify it easily.
We note you wish to be notified of the total charges prior to processing this request. As you
know, the FOIA authorizes federal agencies to collect fees for records services. Based on the
information provided in your letter, we determined that your request falls into the "all other" fee
category, which may require you to pay charges to cover the cost of searching for and
reproducing responsive records (if any) beyond the first 100 pages of reproduction and the first
two hours of search time, which are free. Copies are ten cents per page.
Sincerely,
Allison Fong
Information and Privacy Coordinator
