The author's name is Tom O'Neill. Off the record, I doubt he is someone you know, he was a reporter for Premiere
magazine and is a writing a book about Charles Manson. Jolly West shows up in the book as someone who was working
in Haight Ashbury when Manson was there. They did not know one another, he is just a character in the book, trying to
fact-check the description by the author that West worked as a doctor on the MKUltra program. The author has many
supporting documents that seem to confirm this, including letters from a CIA front company that was run by Sidney
Gottleib that indicate they were paying for West's service. This company was also identified in Congressional testimony
about the program.
