The Mauritanian Democratic Union Party has condemned the death
sentences handed down against a number of opponents of the military
coup in Egypt, in particular President-elect Mohamed Morsi. The
party
said in a statement issued today that the several death sentences
against those who refused the coup confirms the putschist
authority's
disrespect of human dignity, and the choices of the Egyptian
people,
as reflected in the ballot boxes in 2012. The party called on the
Egyptian authorities to respect the rights and dignity of the
citizens of the country, and the options of the Egyptian people;
and
to consider the sentences handed down against President-elect
Mohamed
Morsi and his companions as null and void.
