ARGENTINA: The government has released prominent
newspaper publisher Jacobo Timerman, who spent a year
under detention for unspecified economic crimes in both
Argentina and the United States. Timerman had become a
symbol of human rights violations, and his rel... Ise could
contribute to an easing of bilateral diplomatic tensions
regarding the issue. He has been placed under house
arrest, but press reports indicate that he lans
the country in the near future.
