Artex Fine Art Services
8712 Jericho City Drive
Landover, MD 20785-4761
Dear
(b)(6)
(b)(6)
The Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) hereby authorizes
Artex Fine Art Services (Artex) to transport and release
eighteen paintings to Connersmith, the representatives of the
Estate of Sheila Melzac (Melzac Estate), after each painting has
been restored. The eighteen paintings are on loan from the
Melzac Estate to the CIA and are currently in Artex's possession
where, with the exception of Mehring's Brilliance, they are
undergoing restoration. The CIA confirms that the paintings are
insured while in the custody of Artex.
In light of the Melzac Estate's preference to take
possession of the eighteen paintings as they are restored, Artex
is now authorized to release the restored paintings to
Connersmith. The Melzac Estate has agreed to cover
transportation costs for the first shipment of paintings from
Artex to Connersmith while the CIA will pay for transportation
costs for one shipment to Connersmith of the remaining
paintings. After receipt of each painting from ARTEX,
Connersmith will sign a release agreement confirming acceptance
of the artwork. Upon acceptance of each painting by
Connersmith, CIA shall bear no responsibility or liability for
any damages or loss to the artwork.
Sincerely,
(b)(3)
Member,
