(U) D/CIA John Brennan will interview Dr. Rice at the event, and she will share insights learned from both her government service and her academic career. Dr. Rice was the 66th Secretary of State, a National Security Advisor to President George W. Bush, and also served on President George H.W. Bush's National Security Council staff. As a professor of political science, Dr. Rice has been a member of the Stanford University faculty since 1981 and was university provost from 1993 to 1999. (U) Dr. Rice has won two of Stanford's highest teaching honors; authored and co-authored numerous books; and sits on the boards of the Commonwealth Club, the Aspen Institute, the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, the Boys and Girls Clubs of America, and other organizations. She is a Fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences and has ten honorary doctorates. (U) This is the third Director's Speakers Series event. In July, the D/CIA hosted General Stanley McChrystal (Ret). Tickets to the event are not required.
