Office of PLJ blic Affairs (U) Costume-Wearina Officers Brave the Cold for the 2014 CFC 5K Run and 2.5K Walk On 31 October, dozens of officers, many of whom wore intricate Halloween costumes, gathered on a cold morning outside the Original Headquarters Building Main Entrance to run five kilometers in support of the Combined Federal Campaign (CFC). Runners completed two laps around the compound and walkers completed one. The event was sponsored by (U) Spectators waited at the finish line, cheering on friends and coworkers. Children from the Langley Children's Center sat on the sidewalk near the access road to Scattergood and cheered on race participants, many of whom waved back at the children as they ran by. Security Protective Officers were posted at points along the route to respond to any emergencies. (U) Several runners and walkers wore Halloween costumes, dressing up as a penguin, Robin "The Boy Wonder," a one hundred dollar bill, and a Star Wars "X-Wing" fighter. An elaborate fur-covered "horned demon" won the award for best costume. The penguin costume, earned an honorable mention. One officer ran the 5K wearing his usual work clothes, consisting of a button-down shirt, tie, khakis, and dress shoes.
