Cars, 500 Balloon Animals, and 155 Pounds of Bacon: Family
(U) More than Agency employees, contractors, and family members came to
Headquarters on a beautiful Saturday to attend Family Day 2014. Deputy Director Avril Haines
welcomed attendees at the opening ceremony in front of the A-12 OXCART. "Family Day is an
opportunity to thank the wonderful officers that we have here who serve our country and help
protectAmerica," she said. The Agency Honor Guard presented the colors and the Keynotes,
a group of a cappella singers from CIA, sang the national anthem. Director of National
Intelligence James Clapper and his wife were also in attendance.
(U) In the keynote address, Director John Brennan said, "Family Day is about all of you�the
families of our employees who make up our wider Agency family. In supporting our
employees, you support our mission as surely as if you were officers yourselves."
(U) The D/CIA continued: We are proud of what we do every day, and we want you to feel
that pride, too. As we celebrate our Agency this Family Day, our colleagues, who are on duty
in every corner of the world, are very much in our thoughts."

display in the Lot. In the quadrangle in front of the Original Headquarters (b)(3)
Building, food trucks with Vietnamese cuisine, lamb burgers, pork belly
sandwiches, gelato, and pit barbecue served customers, while children got their
faces painted, watched magicians and balloon animal artists, and played soccer.
In the cafeteria courtyard, children played in a moon bounce while parents
enjoyed complimentary snacks.

Strategic Services museum, the Directorate of Science and Technology museum, and the Intelligence Art Gallery, and to
meet Tony Mendez, the former CIA officer who helped exfiltrate six Americans from Iran in 1979. Many children, some of
them hesitantly, lined up to take a polygraph examination from six polygraphers stationed in the corridor next to the Security
Operations Center.
