We always get the fun questions here in Public Affairs, don't we? I'm not sure this is the kind of thing we'd wade into anyway, but it always helps to know the facts. ..and what the reporters know (or have heard). A thousand thanks. (b)(3) (b)(6) (b)(7)(c) P.S. I think the IG was out for part of this week. But I'll be happy to reach out to him, too. Thanks again. A NY Times reporter called today to say that he's heard that CIA had referred eight people (staff employees and contractors) to Justice for possible prosecution in relation to detainee abuse cases, and that Justice had declined to prosecute. He'd also heard that the IC Report on detention activities had been completed in summer 04 and that it found--or asserted--that some detention activities were not authorized. The reporter closed by noting that there were people inside and outside the building who disagreed with that conclusion. As a source, he cited "former government officials." He didn't say that he was about to publish anything.. .yet. But he'll be back. If there's any light that can be shed, please let me know. I'm on(b)(3) Thanks.
