Dear
I am writing to you in reference to. your discussion
with Special Investigator' of my staff. I
understand you are aware, that the CIA Office of Inspector
General is assisting the Department of Justice (DoJ) in the
investigation and prosecution of violations of federal law
that occurred at a military base at Asadabad, Kunar
Province, Afghanistan. David Anthony Passaro, a former CIA
Independent Contractor, has been indicted on four counts of
assault in this case. A copy of the indictment is enclosed
with this letter.
Two DoJ attorneys who are heading the prosecution have
asked, to coordinate with you. This is in
anticipation of their future discussion with you on the
possibility of selecting you as a medical expert in the
anticipated trial on this matter. I understand that
is coordinating the date of a meeting with you and
the prosecutors in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida later this month.
Enclosed are copies of the unclassified statements of
possible trial witnesses who were soldiers at the base at
the time of the assault, along with a declassified interview
who was present at that time. Other
relevant material, including copies of an unclassified CD
ROM that contains digital photographs of the victim, is also
enclosed.
