(b)(3) � The CIA has acc7ted the request (U//MVO) Yale Fellow Interested in Agency Talk on World War II Military Plan (illltid440) A postdoctoral fellow with International Security Studies at Yale University requested a copy of "a 15 May 1986 talk to a CIA group by Rudolph Rousseau who was Deputy Director, House Affairs, Office of Congressional Affairs, about the German intelligence reactions to the Allied plan Bodyguard in World War II that had a direct impact on the Normandy invasion." � The FOIA case officer accepted the request (U/41.140) American University Requester Seeks Copy of DCID (Ug.41.1449) A requester with American University Administrative Law Review asked for a copy of "Director of Central Intelligence Directive 1/1, The Authorities and Responsibilities of the Director of Central Intelligence as Head of the U.S. Intelligence Community (1998)." � The FOIA case officer provided the requester with a previously-released copy of the DCID from the Management of Officially Released Information (MORI) database. According to various media accounts, it was named 'Operation Blue Mountain' or 'Top Hat." (U//441,41) CIA Declassification Center (U/t7kTrin) Declassification Team Begins Work at Hoover Institution (1J/7441516)- A three-person Remote Archives Capture (RAC) scanning team arrived in California last week at the Hoover Institution Archives located on the Stanford University campus. The team has scanned 8,709 images thus far from a collection of classified documents estimated at 30,000 pages. Upon completion at Hoover the team will travel to Simi Valley, California to begin scanning a collection of 50,000 pages of classified records located at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library. � According to their website, the Hoover Institution is a public policy research center devoted to advanced study of politics, economics, and political economy---both domestic and foreign---as well as international affairs. The Institution was founded in 1919 by Herbert Hoover. (U/L.0,1440) From the Archives: U-2 Pilot Receives Intelligence Star (UfilltliT1GL).-The Deputy Director for Research at the DS&T requested the CIA's Intelligence Star be awarded to Gary Powers in a 9 April 1963 memorandum that was recently reviewed by the DS&T team at the CIA Declassification Center. Herbert Scoville, Jr., DS&T Deputy Director for Research stated, "Mr. Powers has received no formal or official recognition from any quarter recognizing his outstanding service to the Agency." The CIA awarded the Intelligence Star to Mr. Powers later that month. � Gary Powers was shot down with his U-2 reconnaissance aircraft over the Soviet Union in May 1960. He was held prisoner by the Soviets until 1962 when he was returned to the US by the Soviets in exchange for a Russian spy. This is a record.
