Dear Ms. Pasquarella:
On 17 February 2010 we received your letter dated 29 January 2009 requesting
records on your client; You also requested information on
"Hapimotors (a.k.a. Honda Acura Palace or HondAcura Palace.)" That part of your
request falls under the purview of the FOIA and will be addressed via separate
correspondence (F-2010-00687). Since your request for information on your client falls
under the purview of the Privacy Act, it has been assigned the number referenced above
for identification purposes and will be addressed in this letter.
The Privacy Act requires federal agencies to safeguard personally identifiable
information about an individual. CIA's Privacy Regulations, Title 32 C.F.R. � 1901.13,
establish the criteria below:
An individual seeking access to or amendment of records about
himself shall provide in the letter of request his full (legal) name,
address, date and place of birth, and current citizenship status
together with a statement that such information is true under
penalty of perjury or a notarized statement swearing to or
affirming his identity. In the case of an individual who is an alien
lawfully admitted for permanent residence, said individual shall
provide his or her alien registration number and the date that status
was acquired.
You must send us a statement with this information pertaining to your client before
we process your request. You must have his statement notarized, or signed under penalty
of perjury (28 U.S.C. � 1746). We note your client's place of birth Since
your client has become a U.S. citizen, please provide his naturalization number and
the date that status was acquired. We need this information before we can begin
processing your request. You may submit any additional information you wish to help us
ensure that our search is as comprehensive and accurate as possible.
