EL SALVADOR: Army Operations Renewed
The Army has resumed offensive operations as part of its plan to
maintain security during the runoff election scheduled for late April or
early May.
The reports that elements of the elite Belloso
Battalion nave joined otner government units in central San Vicente
Department to attack guerri la forces. He says the airborne battalion
has moved into northwestern San Miguel Department to act as a
blocking force for other units moving in from the east and the

Comment: The large ammunition shipment indicates the
guerrillas plan some actions in the near future. They evidently
continue to depend heavily on outside sources for perhaps as much
