1. The CSPLO 272, a former freight barge of 680 BRT, was converted into a canteen
and recreation barge for the use of both Czech and German employees of the
CSPLO.in Hamburg. The barge was rebuilt in Prague and arrived in Hamburg
harbor in December 1954.
2. The barge has kitchen facilities, a combination dining room and lounge, a
club room, and quarters for the attendants, Alois and Maria Charvat.
3. A radio, a record-playersand a motion-picture projector are part of the
barge equipment. A
4. As yet no political meetings have been reported as having taken place on
the barge.
Comment: This new Czech "culture boat" was apparently designed to kee(bvil
Czech bargemen away from local drinking and amusement places where they migh` /
