Central intelligens* Agency. The need for such designation was mt..
lined in a memorandum from the Director of Central Intelligence to the
Honorable W. H. Draper, Jr., dated it Hovunber 1948.
2. Colonel Pruden rex retired from active service )0 Septesber 1950,
and has srrered his connections with the Central Intalligenee Agency coin-
cident therewith. Since there is still a continuing flow of eorrespondence
and official actions relevant to OSS/SSU natters, it Is deemed necessary
that a suooessor be designated to carry on this function until the final
liquidation Is completed.
3. It is reconemmied Sodesignated by
you, in addition to his other duties with the Central Intelligence Ageney,
to act as Director, Strategics fierviese Unit, Department of the Army, where
necessary until final liquidation eon be determined, unless seater re-
lieved. Colonel &choir is thoroughly fimilimrwith the problems involved.
