The Argentine connection presents another slender
but intriguing link between the supposedly leftist kid-
napings and rightist assassinations. Spanish security
officials have alleged that an Argentine group is re-
sponsible for the killings of a 19-year-old leftist
street demonstrator on the day before the slaying of the
five lawyers and the kidnaping of Villaescusa. In studying
the communique issued by GRAPO following the Villaescusa
kidnaping,'Spanish linguists detected phrases and words
not typical of Castillian construction, but known to be
in common usage in Argentina. Their testimony suggests
that Argentines were involved in all three acts of vio-
lence on January 24, 1977.
