Brazil
A prominent Brazilian newspaper, quoting
an unnamed official source, asserts that Brazil
will be able to resist any US pressures to
modify the West German nuclear sale to
Brazil. This statement indicates the position
that Brazilian negotiators will take in talks with
the US that begin today.
According to the newspaper's source,
Brazil does not expect the US to exert such
pressure. Nevertheless, he said the country
has become sufficiently strong and diversified
in its international relations to withstand hin-
drances in obtaining credit and finance or
reprisals in bilateral trade. The source went on
