SUMMARY OF INFORMATION: Ref Incident Report dated 10 March 1974
'the Agency operator transferred a call from Subject who advised thAt he had
prepared a statement for the Miami Herald Newspaper. Subject stated theA the
purpose of his call was to apprise the Agency of this statement and that he
wanted to read it to the undersigned. Text of message is:

"I feel proud to be an American and. proud that in the difficult momeAts
that I have gone through my faith in our institution has not faulted.
There is a message in the posture taken by Central Intelligency Agency
that says loud and clear to those who would distort the image of this
Nation; "Little People Are Important". That the intelligence agency
of our country and its former Director, today an Ambassador to Iran,
extend an apology and correct an error that could cause them an emb-
arrassment in order to do justice as a deep and special meaning to
those men all over the world who in anonymity today as in the past
continue to devote themselves to this service and will give pause to
those who share a philosophy that places expediency over the dignity
of man. I signed my signature."
Subject requested that the SDO explain to his "former employees" thate
would not do anything to cause embarrassment to the Agency. He also wanted
it understood that he was not going to pursue the civil suit against Mr.I,Helms
that was mentioned by his attorney.
ACTION TAKEN: Notified Mr. Blake, A/DOS; Sen OSDO;
C/OPS/I Mr. Thuermer, DCI Spec. Asstt., was noti led by
Mr. Blake.
