Dear Mr. Neal:
Re: U.S. v. Mitchell et al., Criminal No. 74-110
This is in response to your telephone call of 19 July 1974
in which you. raised various matters concerning the appearance
of General Vernon Walters in the forthcoming trial of the captioned
case. This is to advise that there is no necessity for a subpoena
to be issued. General Walters will be available to testify; however,
as I indicated, we would appreciate as much advance liotice as
possible as to the extent of timing so as to avoid any conflict with
possible travel plans.
When General Walters does appear, he will have with him
the originals of his memoranda for the record, dated 28 and 29 June
1972; 5, 6, and 13 July 1972; and 11 May 1973; and will also have with
him copies. It is requested that General Walters have returned to
him the originals when they have served their purpose.
1111
Sincerely,
ohn. S. Warner
General Counsel
