A recent book has been published entitled "The
Assassination Tapes", in which the book falsely
claims that an instrument known as the "psycho-
logical stress evaluator" proves that Lee Harvey
Oswald was innocent of the murders of President
John F. Kennedy and Officer J.D. Tippitt.
We would like to know whether or not the Agency has
undertaken any tests or experimentation with the
"psychological stress evaluator" (PSE) to ascertain
its reliability as a device showing whether or not
a person is telling the truth. In addition, we would
like to know if you have made any comparison between
the PSE and polygraphic examinations to compare their
relative reliability. We would also like to know any
additional information you may have about the PSE.
