SUBJECT: Resource Profile of the Counter Intelligence Staff
for the Period 1955 - 1976
1. The attached table reflects resources (funds and
personnel) allocated to the Counter Intelligence Staff
(CI Staff) on an annual basis for the period 1955 to 1976.
The personnel figures include both staff and contract po-
sitions. The funds include both those dedicated to the
salaries of personnel assigned the CI Staff and those al-
located for CI Staff Operations.
2. From 1955, the time of its establishment, to the
end of 1972, the CI Staff was composed of the following
components:

3. In 1973 the CI Staff was reorganized into
Counter Intelligence Operations (CIOPS). At that time the
following components were transferred out of the CI Staff
to the Operations Staff:
CIOPS retained the other components of the CI Staff and was
restructured. From mid-1973 to the end of 1975, CIOPS was
composed of the following elements:
