MEMORANDUM FOR THE RECORD
SUBJECT: E. Howard Hunt
1. Yesterday, 8 January 1974, this office received
information second hand from retired
Agency employee, that subject would be arriving back in the Washington
area. The detail of her information clearly indicated that Hunt had been
in direct contact with her. was interviewed by this office
on 24 December 1973 in connection with another matter involving Hunt at
which time she gave us a copy of a recent letter to her from him.

2. Today, current Agency employee

a telephone call from Hunt last night.

very mentally depressed state and talked of suicide if he were to be sent
back to prison. He also stated that he was commencing immediately to
write his memoirs. . feels that Hunt, alone and jobless, will
be attempting to contact other of his former Agency friends and colleagues.
3. was advised that while the Agency did not take the
position that Hunt's Agency friends should avoid or abandon him, they
should be discreet in their relationships and should avoid any discussion
� of past and present Agency activities.
4. was asked, and agreed, to submit a memorandum on
all contacts he has with Hunt.
