ACTIVITY: Technical Liaison -- Infoimation Exchange
Because of the growing concern regarding terrorist
activities and their potential effect on Agency activities
overseas, a literature review was conducted to determine
the potential effectiveness of different alternatives to
firearms in dealing with terrorist activities, overseas
hijackings and the like. Four reports were prepared on
the following topics: (a) Electric Shock; (b) Impact;
(c) Carbon Dioxide; and (d) Dimethyl Sulfoxide. No experi-
ments were undertaken. Copies of several of the contractor's
publications were requested by, and supplied to local or
governmental agencies. Since the reports were not classified,
no records were kept as to their distribution and no personnel
familiar with this work remain at the Agency.

use of their consultants (the police department's) can not
be ascertained.
