One has to be extremely careful here. Absolutely everything is be-
ing spied on. Life bare is one in a police state of the worst sort. Th:
Hitler State coulo not be compared with it. We are not trusted out of
sight here. True, there is no lack of politeness, but we meet with die-
truat everywhere and in the hoghest degree. All our former Russian
friends abun US as much as possible and are visibly embarrassed when
