To whom it may concern:
I am a freelance researcher and ship modeller, who builds
and operates radio controlled scale model vessels. I speciallize
in submarine and torpedoboat warfare from the American Revolution
to the American Civil War, sort of early-age covert operations.
I have an interest in latter-day covert ops as well,and that
is why I am writing.
During WW II, the SOE and OSS designed a piece of equipment
which I think could make an interesting model. It was called
the Motorized Submersible Canoe, code-named Sleeping Beauty.
It was later adopted by the CIA.
I have seen a few vague photos and drawings, but I am
writing to ask if you have any detailed plans/photos I can obtain
to build an accurate model of the MSC. Also,was the device ever
actually used operationally?
I hope you can help me and I thank you for any information
you can give me. Of course, if the Agency ever decides to use
it again, I spent six years in the Navy and have Confidential,
Secret, Top Secret and Cryptographic clearances. But that was
years ago and I'm getting a little long in the tooth...
