Hector Hidalgo Sola, Argentina's ambassador to'Venezuela.and a prominent member of the nation's second largest political party, disappeared in Buenos Aires on July 18. Presumably kidnapped, Hidalgo Sola recently made controversial public remarks about the nation's political future and his own presidential intentions. Suspicion will fall on military hardliners who were upset last year when Hidalgo Sola received at his embassy a labor leader ousted after the March 24, 1976 coup. (A knowledgeable Embassy Buenos Aires source dis- counted the possibility that General Suarez Mason, a notorious hardliner, was involved because he and Hidalgo Sola are longtime friends.) A government spokesman has stated that everything possible is being done to locate the ambassador. There are also unconfirmed reports that the son of General (ret.)
