SUBJECT: Project MEDLTRA, Subpioject 10

1. The purpose of subproject 10 is to obtain a supply of i
corynanthine hydrochloride and such other rare drugs as may be required
from time to time for experimental and operational uses during the
coming year.
2. Dr. C. F. Geschickter has obtained the attached proposal from
for the production of a quantity
of the above rare alkaloid. This proposal cannot be more definite as to
quantity, price, or date of delivery because of the uncertainty involved in
obtaining the raw materials and working facilities.,
3. Dr. Geschickter has agreed to act as agent cut-out and cover
in negotiating a contract under his name for this subproject. It should
be pointed out that Dr. Geschickter has for many years been active in
the field of research in which this material is normally used and thus
can present a legitimate reason for obtaining it.
4... The total cost of this project for a period of one.year -
beginning 1 July 1953 will not exceed $32,000.00.,-
5. Dr. Geschickter has been cleared through TOP SECRET and is
fully capable of applying the security precautions necessary to protect
Agency interest in this matter.

The company cannot prepare small quantities of this material.
This proposal was made by an official of the company to Dr. C. F.
Geschickter, and represents the only available domestic source of this
. material.
Dr. Geschickter has also agreed to Obtain such other drugs as fall �
into this same Category and are not readily obtainable through the usual
sources. .
