� The experiMents in:this film, which were conducted at the Pavlov Institute Of
Physiology, demonstrate the scientific hypotheses and theories�yhich.yere formulated
by /van Pavlov mbevin 1910, began research concerning the phencaenon of sleep as it
�seared in dogs.
.Pavlov came to the conclusion that sleep is often induced bythe.development of
internal conditioned inhibitions which are irradiated throughout the cortex, Experi-
mente are conducted on doe; in -which negative and positive inhibitory stlmnli are
used to induce sleep There are diagrammatic explanations of the effect of such stla
uli on various-sectors of the cortex and the resulting effects which are manifested L
the doges activity. There are also demonstrations of the inducement of sleep through
the application of Unconditioned inhibitory stimuli.� � .
