1. In a statement of support for North Korea,
broadcast by Hanoi on 31 January, the South Vietnamese
Communists' National Liberation Front pledged to step
up its attacks on the US in South Vietnam in order to
contribute to North Korea's "just struggle." The state-
ment probably represents a Viet Cong attempt to extract
the maximum propaganda benefit out of any planned mili-
tary moves.
