the government plans to break diplo-
matic relations this weekend with all
Communist countries represented in
the Congo except Yugoslavia.
b. About 150 Bloc representa-
tives of the USSR, Poland, Bulgaria,
and Czechoslovakia will be ordered
to leave.
c. The move follows recent in-
dications that the government was dis-
turbed by Bloc activity in the Congo.
d. The three-man "emergency
committee" now running the show has
followed up Wednesday's arrests of
the three top labor leaders by seiz-
ing some second echelon figures. So
far there has been no reaction.
a. Morocco has been unsuccess-
ful in her attempts to get military
aid from Spain, France, and the UK.

b. The mayor of Danang (Tour-
ane), a port city in Quang Nam prov-
ince in the north near Hue, reported
on Wednesday that prices there had
risen following rumors of rises in
Saigon.
c. The unconfirmed report we
had last week about the Viet Cong
receiving 37-mm. antiaircraft artil-
lery from Communist China has not
panned out.

Portugal Ministry has withdrawn its objec-
tion to the sale of aircraft to
Portugal since Lisbon h s promised
that they will be used only for
NATO purposes and not in the African
territories.

NOTES
B. Panama A strike of banana workers against the
United Fruit Company in western Panama is reported
to be imminent and could trigger violence by leftist
extremists. The workers are said to have some arms
as well as sufficient food and money for a prolonged
strike. There is also a possibility that leftist stu-
dents in Panama City may stage sympathy demonstrations
which could lead to violent outbreaks.
C. Hungary There just may be a Budapest Hilton someday.
Hungarian tourist officials reacted favorably to the
idea in exploratory talks with a friend of Conrad
Hilton. The scheme, if it gets off the ground, would
involve Hilton management on a percentage basis with
the construction funds probably coming from Western
European sources. A Hilton hotel is currently being
built in Belgrade.
