Communist China a. Peiping today issued a "statement of the Chinese government advocating the complete, thorough, total, and resolute prohibition and destruction of nuclear weapons." b. It charges the USSR with "selling out" the Soviet people to the forces of war and allying itself with the US against China, peace and socialism. c. To document the case, the Chinese use Moscow's own earlier arguments against such a treaty. d. The Chinese repeat their contention that it would be "unthink- able" for China to adhere to such a treaty--a "dirty fraud" under which the US has everything to gain and nothing to lose. ? e. Instead, Peiping puts forth its own sweeping nuclear disarmament proposals and calls for a meeting of world leaders to discuss total prohibition of nuclear weapons.
