CAMBODIA - SOUTH VIETNAM
Yesterday Cambodian forces moved westward along
Route 4 from Sre Khlong to within ten miles of the
Pich Nil pass without opposition. Southwest of the
pass, however, Cambodian troops are still in disar-
ray, following the rout last weekend of- a three-
battalion government task force north of Veal Renh.

COMMUNIST CHINA - ROMANIA
The Romanian ambassador in Washington says that
the long-term, interest-free credit extended Bucha-
rest by Peking last November amounts to $100 million
in convertible currency.
A $100-million cash Zoan would be the
largest China has ever extended. It
comes at an appropriate time for the Ro-
manians, who? face substantial repayment
commitments to a number of countries over
the next several years. The Soviets will
take further umbrage at this latest in-
stance of Romanian independence, but
Bucharest believes the economic benefits
outweigh the credit's political risks.

EAST GERMANY
In a major speech last month Premier Stoph told
the central committee plenum that East Germany's
economic growth rate from 1969 to 1970 was six per-
cent per. annum. Stoph has since been contradicted
by an economist, Juergen Kuczynski, who wrote an
article in Neues Deutschland, the main party daily,
which said the growth rate was four percent.
