LAOS
No significant new fighting has been reported
since the government withdrawal from the Plaine des
Jarres Saturday. Thus far enemy elements have not
pursued government units retreating south and west
of the Plaine. Government outposts around Xieng
Khouangville, southeast of the Plaine, and in areas
to the northeast and northwest have reported no ma-
jor Communist attacks.
About 700 of the government troops who had been
defending the Xieng Khouang airstrip have straggled
into a site west of the Plaine. Most of the other
missing forces are expected to filter into friendly
areas in the next few days.
