The Communists seem to be prepar-
ing a major offensive in the central
highlands./
/defector reports point to
a build-up in southwestern Pleiku Prov-
ince in the area of the Ia Drang Valley
battles of late 1965. )
One de-
fector, a North Vietnamese soldier,
has said the Communists plan to strike
at the height of the monsoon in June
and July.

Cosmos 154 and its predecessor
Cosmos 146 were tests of a new piece
of space hardware; both were at best
only partially successful. We believe
that a vehicle of this type will even-
tually be mated with a Soyuz capsule
for circumlunar missions or for estab-
lishing manned orbiting space stations.

We see no signs as yet of any
organized move against the new regime.
The king, however, appears to be re-
asserting some influence over the new
government. He has succeeded in adding
four new civilians to the cabinet
The King apparently hopes that
personality clashes among the coup
leaders, as they begin the difficult
job of trying to run the country, will
give him further chances to gather up
some of the reins.
The government has announced it
will break the US economic assistance
agreement and prosecute two Americans
for subversive activity. The Ameri-
cans, still in custody, were inter-
rogated at length yesterday by the
Egyptians in the presence of a US of-
ficial.
