Subject appears not too well educated, but probably is a sharp business man. While cooperative, he does not Inspire an over- abundance of confidence. lie volunteered the following information: POSSIBLit ALLI& C01iiT.-.CT IN NJi TH CEINA In the course of an interview on another matter, Subject mentioned a former business acquaintance or his in A. This man, whose name is B. Subject strongly believes could be of value to the allied cause in North China. B is Jewish, of Russian parents; has lived in Chine most of his life and has a Chinese passport. He is between 35 and 40 years old, well educated, speaks Japanese, Chinese and fluent English. Subject says he is an A460&ra17 sharp and cleverer- son with a wide acquaintance and extensive business connections. Before the war he exported furs to the U.S. and has $100,000 in this country. Subject suggested that this fact would make him "reliable." Since the war B has been doing business with the Japanese, travels freely between Tientsin and Shanghai, and is apparently on their good books. In A. B lived at the C Hotel and also frequented the L Club. B'e commission agent in this country was E whose wife, also living in New York, is B's sister. E and his wife are known also by of Universal Paltry Traders. 51 went 26th Street, how York City, and by 11 of the same firm.
