As you know, the Department of Justice (Doi) has requested the assistance of this Office in conducting a criminal. investigation into the procedures emnloved in the narcotics air interdiction programs in Peru in the period from 1995 to 2001, Agency officers provided testimony and briefings to the HPSCI in regard to the air interdiction program on a number of occasions. in support of this investigation, we have requested the necessary approvals for access to HPSCI records of Agency officers' statements to the Committee, including corrected testimony and hearing transcripts, Committee briefings, questions for the record, and any other relevant testimonies. The scope of this investigation includes. a review of the accuracy and completeness with which Congress was informed concerning the procedures used in the air interdiction program.
