To obtain the services of Dr. Luis U. Alvarez and Dr. Thornton
Page as ad hoc consultants to the 0/SI Advisory Panel on "Unidenti-
fied Flying Objects", scheduled to convene 34 January 1953.
It is assumed that Dr. Alvarez and Dr.. Page will accept oaploy
neat as consultants.

a. Item 3 of the tar > res of IAC I eating, 4 December 1952,
.states that., "The (Agency) will enlist the services of selected

b. Dr. Luis U. Alvarez is an outstanding scientist in the
fields of radar operation, dseracteristics axed anonalies.
c. Dr. Thornton ti. Page is a particularly competent astronomer
and astro_hyaicist. Moreover, he has given, considerable thought
to the sub;eat of "unidentified flying objects".
b. A chock of the Consul tints' Repistrv disclosed that
con.-i.a.nts precantl:; employed by CTS either did not have zie
proper qualifications or were currently unavailable.
