Robert M. McNamara, Jr. SIS-6 Robert M. McNamara, Jr. was appointed General Counsel for the Central Intelligence Agency on 13 November 1997. (b)(6) He previously served as the Assistant General Counsel for Enforcement at the Treasury Department and has been an Adjunct Professor of Law at Georgetown University Law Center, where he taught Trial Practice for over ten years. Mr. McNamara has served as Deputy Director of Enforcement at the Commodity Futures Trading Commission, General Counsel of the Peace Corps, Legislative Counsel to the United States Senate Judiciary Committee, Assistant United States Attorney and Assistant Majority Counsel of the United States Senate Watergate Committee. In 1967, he received his B.A. from Mount Carmel College. Mr. McNamara received his A.B. from John Carroll University in 1968 and his J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center in 1973, where he was Symposium Editor of the American Criminal Law Review. After graduation, Mr. McNamara was a law clerk on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit to the Honorable George C. Edwards, Jr., in Cincinnati.
