He .s not known to have relatives outside of Russia at the Present time. Subject entered the Russian Diplomatic Service, later becoming Charge d'Affairs in Athens for Soviet. In 1937, he was advised th return to Russia as he had been writing articlps against the Soviet Regime. He refused, fled to France and, subsequently, tried in Russia and sentenced to death. During his stay in France, he was engaged as a mechanic in automobile business and continued writing anti-Soviet articles. Informants advice that the Subject feels very strongly against the Soviet Govern ent but not against the Russian people. jObtained a permit to enter the U.S. ti.ruugh the aid of Walter Lip: and ae BullittJwhile in France.
