(C) With respect to whether Barry Seal's C-123K (N4410F, AKA Fat Lady) as discussed in the Mena Report of Investigation had a Vietnam War era-link to CIA as suggested by CIA officer the following records were reviewed: ? Directorate of Operations (DO) File Subject: Congressional Investigation - Iran/Contra Affair, Volumes 1 through 20 (two boxes). The files contained a number of documents pertaining to or otherwise mentioning the C- 123K aircraft as used by the private benefactors, including several documents discussing the loss of N4410F over Nicaragua. No documents were found in the files, however, indicating that CIA had a prior link with N4410F. ? DO File one volume (January 1990 to April 1992). ~, Subject: fined numerous name traces and other information on a variety of topics/individuals including SAT but did not contain information pertaining to N4410F. ? DO File Subject: (1990 to present . File contained trace reports and other information on numerous vessels and aircraft. No responsive documents located2. ? SAT files from CIA's Iran/Contra Task Force (provided by Office of General Counsel), consisting of seven folders with documents pertaining to SAT operational and administrative activities from the 1960s and early to mid-1970s time period. Files contained documents that listed the types of aircraft operated by SAT in the late 1960s and early 1970s and included copies of early 1970s SAT service contracts with the U.S. Air Force (USAF), including some activities relating to Southeast Asia. Files did not contain any documents to indicate that SAT owned, operated or bailed from the USAF any C-123K aircraft. A few documents pertaining to Air America operations for the same general time period were also 1(A O) These records are in addition to those examined during the Mena Investigation. 2 AO) Certain (more recent) DO files were examined because a records check recorded a "hit", indicating the file contained information pertaining to SAT. CONF TIAL noted in the file, including several documents that discussed at least some of the types of aircraft operated by Air America. As with the SAT documents, there was no mention of C-123K aircraft being used by Air America. ? Miscellaneous documents including through that are drafts 1 through 3 ande 'final" version of the "DDO's Opening Statement"--apparently before the SSCI or the HPSCI--in which the loss of the C- 123 is discussed. The text makes no mention of the Barry Seal flight nor does it make reference to any other CIA link with the aircraft. 2. (AAUO) Actions remaining: ?
