Artifact Details

"A white plastic flashlight with the names ""Ramon"" and ""Leon"" etched on it., A white plastic flashlight."

Felix Rodríguez, a Cuban American, aided CIA in finding Guevara.

Bolivian special forces captured Ernesto “Che” Guevara, the infamous communist revolutionary and guerrilla fighter, on 8 October 1967. Guevara had risen to prominence as part of Fidel Castro’s successful revolution in Cuba in 1959 and had hoped to build a rebel paramilitary force in Bolivia at the time of his capture. CIA and the United States aided Bolivia in its search for Guevara.

This flashlight was among the items found during Guevara’s capture.  The names “Ramon” and “Leon” are etched on it; Ramon allegedly was Guevara’s nom de guerre while in Bolivia.
