Pietsch parachuted into the Nazi-occupied Burgundy region of France during WWII.

OSS adopted for its own use this distinctive knife, which the British Army issued to soldiers during WWII. Note the marlin spike, sheepsfoot cutting blade, screwdriver, and can opener. OSS Capt. William H. Pietsch, Jr., carried this one when he parachuted into Nazi-occupied France in the summer of 1944 on his fi­rst Jedburgh mission.
