Bolo Knife with Leather Sheath

Artifact Details

A flat, rounded knife with a wooden handle next to its leather sheath.

The Research and Development branch of the OSS created and adapted weapons for the Allied forces.

With origins shortly after the Spanish-American War, the bolo knife served US combat forces during World War II. Like many knives of its size, the bolo could cut through brush easily. Other uses included sharpening or cutting wooden tools, digging, and some medical procedures.
